Let’s talk handicrafts.
We’ve been working on quality over quantity over here. I used to pull out every art supply we had so we could do craft projects. I threw so much stuff away. They were cute crafts but they didn't last. Sure, our children learned how to cut with scissors but I exhausted myself with the mess, not to mention I felt as though I was throwing our money out the window.
Our children are learning life skills by spending time on handicrafts that can be enjoyed for years to come. A few weeks ago, our oldest came to me and expressed interest in wood whittling. “Sissy really likes to cook and I want to make her a wooden spoon.” So, he’s been learning the art of wood whittling and working on carving out a special spoon for her to cook with.
It brings me so much joy to watch the friendship that’s formed between our little ones and how they show their kindness to one another.
Below is a list of 10 ideas but really, the possibilities are ENDLESS. Just lay out the feast for them and watch them work to His glory.
*I want to update you on the spoon! Our oldest finished it and gifted it to his sister for Christmas. She absolutely loved it and was blown away by his kindness and the time he spent on this special gift.
Tears filled her eyes as she admired it, thinking of all the meals she will cook for our family in the years to come.
I hope this gives you inspiration and a few fun ideas for ways your little ones can create beautiful pieces with their hands!
In Christ,
Amanda
