Over the last few days we have been planting our seeds in the garden. We've had so much fun exploring the anatomy of seeds, examining seeds under the microscope and studying the life cycle of this amazing plant.
Want to create interest in your children around the lifecycle of a plant? Get in the kitchen and bake a lifecycle cake! This cute cake will have them asking for the mature plant piece of the cake when you're all done.
What you need:
-A box of chocolate cake mix and the ingredients required to bake the cake
icing:
-1 stick butter
-1 stick crisco
-4 cups powdered sugar
-2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
-1 teaspoon vanilla
- green and yellow food coloring
-red sprinkles
-white ball sprinkles
Directions:
1. Bake the cake according to package and allow it to cook completely
2. Cream butter and Crisco together
3. Add powdered sugar 1 cup at a time
4. Add vanilla
5. take out 3 small bowls. put a few scoops of the icing in each
6. die one green, one yellow and leave one white
7. Add the cocoa powder to the remaining icing and spread of the entire cake.
8. create your lifecycle design as shown on the cake above.
9. Use the white ball sprinkles for the seeds and the red sprinkles for the tomato itself.
Have fun! There's no wrong way with creating this. Your children will absolutely love the time you spend and the memories you make in the kitchen with this Nature Study.
