Valentine’s Book Recommendations

Valentine’s Book Recommendations

Is it February already? I blinked and January was over. February crafts, baking, and books are so exciting to me. What better verses are there to concentrate on during this Valentine’s holiday than 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8? Paul teaches us what love looks like in this book.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8

Below you will find a few book recommendations and crafts to do with your children to teach them what love looks like.

Love is Kind

We were recently gifted this beautiful book by author Laura Sassi. It is the sweetest little story about an owl that shows love to each of his friends. On a mission to find a special gift for his Grammy, he runs into numerous road blocks. The road blocks offer opportunities to show God’s love and he takes each of them. Though happy to show love, he’s discouraged when he meets his Grammy without a gift. Grammy was so happy to see him and reminded him that he is the best gift of all. It’s a wonderful book that gives real life examples of what a child may run into and how to show love to their friends and family.

If you’re looking for a sweet valentines gift to give your little ones and remind them of the 1 Corinthians 3 verses, this is the one! Click here or the photo below to read more about it.

We made a sweet little banner to hang in our homeschool room. Any time we can hang a banner to remind us of scripture, we do.

Happy Valentine's Day, Mouse!

We rented Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse! from the library and fell in love with it. The kids couldn’t wait to pull out the crafts and get creative with making special valentines for family. We don’t live close to family, so we’ll be mailing these to our special family members to show God’s love.

We pulled out the watercolor paints and they went to town. Check it out here. This board book is a win!

God Gave Us Love

God Gave Us Love is a really sweet book with beautiful illustrations. We really enjoyed this book because to the family aspect of it. The grandpa is teaching his grandson that there are so many ways in which God shows us love. Through family, friends, our church, blessings of a home, food on the table, etc. There are so many way God shows us love. The most incredible of them all is his Son that he sent to us. The story ends with Little Cub falling asleep thanking God for loving her and for all the blessings in her life.

We took chocolate chip cookies out for this book. Who doesn’t like a sweet treat to use for a learning activity? I had them count the number of chocolate chips in their cookie. For each chocolate chip that was in their cookie, I had them write something they wanted to thank God for. This was a really great activity, especially for our preschool who is learning his numbers and how to count.
