Homeschooling with a Newborn: Part 2
Last week on my blog I talked about the importance of one-on-one time with your other children when a new one arrives. I'm continuing my newborn series by talking about another homeschool tip I've learned along the way.
Read Aloud Time
School can look different depending on what season of life you and your family are in. We normally spend a lot of time reading together as a family and during our homeschool days. When a new little one arrives however, we spend quite a bit more time reading together. We're currently reading through Chronicles of Narnia as a family but we also have a number of Magic Tree House books on our list as well.
Spending time reading not only is wonderful for learning but easier on mama as well. It allows time to sit and hold the baby while the little ones listen. Let's face it, soaking up the cuddles is amazing in and of itself. Spend the time doing so while you teach your children.
During this time, I have our children create with wood blocks, Legos, tinker trays, or playdough. It helps with keeping their hands busy while they listen to what you're reading.
Homeschooling with a newborn can be such a beautiful way of slowing down. Reading books together is the perfect way to slow down and enjoy each other. Some of our recent books we've loved reading together during this sweet time are:
