10 Easy Snacks to Have Ready for Your Homeschool Day

Updated: Sep 17

Snacks go a long way. Every mom I know has snacks in their pockets, purses, car, diaper bag, backpack, strollers, etc. I can go on and on but you get it. We have them everywhere, don’t we? If we have them ready for our trip to the grocery store or library run, why not have them ready in our homes while we are schooling our children?

When I have easy snacks prepared for our children, its easy to pull them out, while everyone stays focused on the lesson or book we’re trying to get through. It simply allows our homeschool day to run more smoothly.

These easy homeschool snacks are easy to prepare snacks and sure to keep the bellies of growing children satisfied.

1. Fruit Cups

I buy fruit when it’s on sale and cut it up when I get home from the grocery store. It’s a perfect time to grab my plastic fruit cups and fill them up with fruit so it’s all ready for the week. These can be frozen or placed in the refrigerator until you want to serve them.

2. Overnight Oats

Most days we have a hot breakfast but on there are some days that the children grab a quick granola bar and get straight to work on chores and lessons. On these days, overnight oats are so convenient during snack time. I make a batch and separate them out in glass baby food jars so that they are snack size. It gives them the dairy and carbs they need without being a heavy meal during snack time.

3. Watermelon Pops

For some reason when you put food on a stick, its that much more appealing to children. We grew some watermelons in our garden this year so these have been a huge hit in our homeschool!

4. Veggie Trays

On the days when we’re all still sitting at the same table, we grab a veggie tray with ranch. This is a perfect opportunity for us to use up produce from the grocery store or from our garden. Some ideas are red bell pepper slices, cucumbers, carrots, celery and tomatoes

5. Nuts

If your children aren’t allergic, nuts are a fantastic way of getting protein and carbs in. Its an easy to grab snack that we truly enjoy.

6. Goldfish

Our children would live off of Goldfish if I’d let them. This is another quick snack you can grab for your little ones.

7. Yogurt

Topped with their favorite fruit or a small drizzle of honey, this is a delicious treat. If I want to prep this a head of time, I will put the yogurt into our WeeSprout Double Zipper Reusable Food Pouches so I can just pull them out of the refrigerator and give them to the children. Tip: On days when you need something really easy and don't want to wash additional dishes, grab some ready made yogurt tubes.

8. Crackers and Cheese Cubes

If you buy a block of cheese from the store and cut it up all at once, its an easy to grab snack. You can either serve this on a tray or individual cups.

9. Smoothie Bowls

Our children love smoothies. Put them in a bowl with a spoon and it makes it that much more exciting to have for a snack.

10. Frozen Banana Pops

This is another make ahead snack that goes a long way. Coat the bananas in peanut butter or chocolate and roll in mixed nuts or dried fruit. Freeze them and grab as needed.
